Kyle

One day we went to the animal shelter where all the Hoyt Household canines come from in search of a Big Dog. A Labrador, perhaps, or a boxer. But then Youngest, who was accompanying me, saw Kyle and it was all over.
Instead of a Big Dog we came home with Kyle. Who is a Chihuahua. True, at nearly ten pounds Kyle is rather large for a Chihuahua, but still.
A Chihuahua.
Kyle is not exactly the brightest bunny in the meadow. When we play fetch with Rue, Kyle barks excitedly and scampers back and forth chasing Rue, not the ball. Rue does not appreciate this. She is a Serious Dog, and when she plays fetch she is intent on the game. Sometimes she has to actually stop playing fetch and impress upon Kyle the importance of the whole situation.
So far the lesson has not stuck.
Kyle has a happy-go-lucky personality and likes everyone except the UPS man, who is rather a suspicious character anyway. He puts up with Youngest painting his toenails bright red, although he does draw the line at doggie t-shirts.
All-in-all Kyle is a wonderful addition to the Hoyt Household.
