• Joseph Tinbox  A mischievous orphan at the Home for Unfortunate Infants and Foundling Children.

• Mary Darling  A foundling infant mysteriously left on a doorstep.

• Mary Hope  An orphan infant at the Home for Unfortunate Infants and Foundling Children, she was saved by Temperance Dews.

• Silence Hollingbrook  Beautiful, passionate, and perhaps too brave, Silence is the youngest of the Makepeace Family. (Scandalous Desires)

• Soot  The Home for Unfortunate Infants and Foundling Children’s black cat, Soot enjoys the odd bowl of cream, a warm kitchen hearth, and lying limp over children’s arms.

• Sir Stanley Gilpin Deceased patron of the Home for Unfortunate Infants and Foundling Children and friend of the Makepeace Family.

• Temperance Dews  The fourth Makepeace Family offspring. She runs the Home for Unfortunate Infants and Foundling Children in St. Giles along with her brother, Winter Makepeace. She is all that is respectable—on the surface at least. (Wicked Intentions)
