Historical Romance Retreat

I hope you’re having a wonderful summer! I’ve been working to plant my brand new garden–my neighbor looked over the fence and asked if I’d bought out the garden center. ;-)

Meanwhile, I’m putting together an extra-special free story for my readers: an epilogue for Dearest Rogue! Here’s how it will work: when pre-orders of Sweetest Scoundrel reach 1,500 on Amazon I’ll be posting the story to my website so everyone can read it. We’re at about 1,000 pre-orders now, so I think this is a very attainable goal. If you haven’t already pre-ordered Sweetest Scoundrel, now is the time to do it!

I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be attending an all-new romance convention next year–just for historical romance writers and readers! The Historical Romance Retreat will be held September 22-25 in Spokane, Washington at the beautiful Davenport Hotel. Reader attendance is limited to 300 people and there’s a special Early Bird registration price, so hurry up and register for this fun event!

See you there!

Awards and a Move

Spring is here and the Hoyt Household has moved, dogs and all, to Minneapolis. Our new home is lovely, but the backyard isn’t. In fact it holds very little besides an old tree stump and a falling-down fence. I hope to have the backyard landscaped with the help of a professional landscaper, so stay tuned!

In the last couple of weeks I’ve had two pieces of wonderful news: Darling Beast has finaled in the Romance Writers of America┬«’s 2015 RITA┬« Contest and Apollo Greaves, the hero of Darling Beast has been named Historical K.I.S.S. hero of the year by RT Book Reviews! The dogs and I are doing lots of happy dances!

Meanwhile, I hope you’ve had a chance to read the teaser excerpts for Dearest Rogue, coming May 26.

Enjoy!

Road Trip & Summer News

What a gorgeous August we’re having here in central Illinois! Mild weather, no bugs, and sunshine nearly everyday. I’ve been taking advantage of the unseasonably lovely weather to play in my garden, but starting tomorrow I’m off on a road trip with my good friend, Jade Lee. We’ll be driving to Pennsylvania, spending a week at a Bed and Breakfast at a writing retreat with three other writer friends and then driving back. On the way home we hope to stop by several bookstores to take a break and sign stock. Stay tuned!

I have wonderful news! I’ve just signed a contract with my publisher for a new contemporary romance under my alter ego, Julia Harper. I’m writing it right now and it’s tentatively scheduled for release summer of 2014.

In other news I’ll be appearing at Barbara Vey’s Reader Appreciation Luncheon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, April 26, 2014. Many other authors are attending, including the wonderful Debbie Macomber, who will be the luncheon speaker. I hope to see you there!
